Well sometimes in a place like you just have to subsist on what you can obtain locally, even if that means having to put up with fresh lobster tail for dinner. Unfortunately I didn't get to go snorkeling after dinner since I locked myself out of my room and had to round up someone to let me in, and by that time it was dark. I think I'll go look for the 6 foot morays in the daylight.
Bruce - it is essentially all men; only 3 women in the place that I know of. The media availability is pretty slim. Internet as I have mentioned is slow, slow, slow. TV is 3 channels of Armed Forces Network, which shows a potpouri of different news and sports offerings. The commercials are somewhat different, all by and for the millitary, and they get somewhat nauseating after a while. You would go nuts.
Many of the Thais have built beach huts along the shore from whatever materials they can scrounge or beachcomb, and they usually spend the weekend evenings out there and that apparrently is the best place to bring your caught fish to be cooked. I plan to check that out this weekend, although by tradition you must be invited to the beach house by it's owner; hopefully I've gotten on somebody's good side.

Lobster for dinner. Awww...what a pity. You can catch your own dinner. Awww...such a shame.
Kate says she's glad to hear that you're sacrificing yourself for the greater good.
I do have another question or two: what's with the huts on the beach? Do they sleep there, too? What do people do for fun? Left-handed ping-pong?

Kate wants to know how long it took you to get there. And is it really lobster, nah...just those oversized, flabby-fleshed shrimp. Can you grill 'em?
What does the moon look like, and the sky?

If you have trouble with your blog or E-mail, my son reccomends the following procedure; compose the note with Note Pad, open up your blog or G-mail, paste in the note from Note Pad quickly, and then submit/send. Phil says he had those kind of problems with E-mail on a slow computer with a bad internet connection.
Is there anything we can send you on the next flight? Please send instructions and requests ASAP.
I just wrote you a nice long note--then "published" it only to realize I hadn't
signed in and therefore it was all erased. Grrr.
Anyhoo, let's try this again....
Rough life--Lobster and Thai food. I was just talking to Erin who was having
difficulty getting on your blog, so I read her all the entries. She
concurred--rough life. She also complained that it's not fair since she adores
seafood and you'd rather have "moo." Well, the lobster may dull the pain of the
Irish. Gloomy year in South Bend. My condolences.
But more importantly--terrible new for MD Women's Basketball fans. Can't
believe it!! The coach, Brenda Freese, is due to have twins 2 weeks before the
NCAA Championships. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING!!
Oh, by the way, sorry about the recipe chain--just sent it to the Martin list.
You don't have to send a recipe, sending me 2 lobster tails would be fine.
Well, need to go and grill a "Moo". Have fun. Hope you talked someone into
cooking you that just caught fish.
Jeanne
